Like many areas of France this particular part of the south west benefits from a culinary richness all of its own. Neighbouring Marennes boasts to be France’s no1 oyster producing area, but seafood lovers generally will feel quite spoilt to be able to choose from mussels, cockles, and various forms of prawn and king prawn.
We couldn’t talk about food without talking about drink ; Pineau is the local brew.
The town of Cognac is just over an hours drive away where you can visit one of the many brandy houses.
