Probably a lot of things. Firstly the unique location, set in a maritime pine forest on the edge of a natural bay overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Set strategically between the tourist village of la Palmyre 800m on one side and the 20km of golden sands that form la Cote Sauvage 800m on the other, things don’t get much better than this! Then there are the first class facilities at Camping Bonne Anse Plage, notably the water park with giant water slides and the plethora of shops, bars and sporting facilities. What is the setting of Bonne Anse
It is a natural park of 35 acres, divided into 850 individually marked places, equally dedicated to traditional campers and to mobile-home and cottage tenants (Cottage is the name we give to our more luxurious mobile homes)

Which kind of people stay at Bonne Anse Chalets
At Bonne Anse Chalets we didn't wait for Maastricht to become Europeans and the holiday atmosphere is perfect. Most of our clients are couples and families. It is known that language is not a problem for children to make new friends.

Royan railway station is 16 kms from the campsite., the TGV stops at La Rochelle, 80kms.

Every day the games organizers propose a programme of activities; sports tournaments, horse riding, windsurfing, there is a weekly entertainment program.

Are barbecues allowed
We are in a pine wood which means that charcoal barbecues are strictly forbidden. You can hire gas barbecues at our reception or use the collective barbecues spread around the campsite.

What do we find at the heated pool complex
A children's paddling pool with cascade and mini water slide The main complex features 875m² of swimming pool split into main pool and childrens pool, 3 waterslides, free sunbeds and a snackbar (opened during the high season).

Is the pool complex open to the general public
No. It is a private pool complex reserved exclusively for campsite residents. We issue pool bands under a refundable deposit of 10 euros per person to all our customers.

What kind of sports can we do in the bay of Bonne Anse
Bonne Anse bay is a natural reserve. Nature lovers will be able to do some bird watching as many different species live here, guided visits will allow you to discover this exceptional site. Because its sheltered from the Atlantic it’s particularly suited to sailing, windsurfing, sea kayak, the bay’s sailing club can hire all you need to practice these sports . Also very popular is kite surfing and several national kite surf events are held here through the summer.

A generalist consults in La Palmyre. A first aid service is available at the swimming pool.

Yes, the roads are lit and the sanitary blocks also in, and outside.

Can we park our car on the plot
Yes. There is also a night car park, within the campsite grounds, where you may park when you come back after 11pm.

Is there a special beach for nudists?
Yes, there is a section of La Cote Sauvage dedicated to Naturists, about 1km from the site.

Are there places to bike ride nearby
Yes. The campsite is surrounded by a network of cycle tracks (see map on website pages). You can explore the nearby beaches, the forest and neighbouring towns and villages. In fact you really don’t need a car once you have arrived.

Which activities are interesting for grown-ups
The Boules tournaments are always a big success. The ball games, volleyball-, basketball- mini foot- tournaments are also appreciated. Nearby you can visit the Zoo de la Palmyre, la Rochelle, the islands of Ré and la Rochelle, Cognac and the vineyards of Bordeaux. There is also a twice weekly disco.

What is the security at Bonne Anse
Perfectly secure, we are siuated in the middle of a forest. The campsite is guarded day and night and is completely closed. At your arrival a personal barrier card is given to you. Visitors such as friends and family are allowed. If they are staying longer than 2 hours, or use the campsite facilities they will be liable to a charge for the use of these facilities.

Which means of payment are accepted
Most means of payment are accepted : credit card (Visa-Mastercard) French cheques, travellers cheques and cash. There is a 24 hour cash machine at reception.

What type of rentals do you propose
We propose a fleet of hire units. These are like small houses the
more luxurious units offering sun decking, sun canopy, fridge freezer, microwave oven , personal safe and dishwasher,

What are the facilities on site
There is a small supermarket, a bakery (offering fresh bread, croissants and cakes), a newsagents, laundry, take-away. A bar-restaurant, right in the middle of the site, offers a splendid view over the boules terrain and mini golf. Traditional french meals are served there and there is also a more informal snack service. There is a games room (with pool table, air hockey, table-football and video games), and a bar at the poolside. At reception you can find tourist information and computers at your disposal for
internet connection. You can hire: safes, gas barbecues, refrigerators and laundry-kits. There is a postal service on site. Free access to the sports area, lit until 9.30 p.m. and free use of the equipment. There are numerous barbecue areas at your disposal.

What is the distance to the nearest airport
La Rochelle airport operates with Ryanair and is 80km from the site. Bordeaux, 120km, operates with Air France, British Airways, Flybe and Bmibaby flying from London, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester. See our travel section for further information.

Which kind of sports can we practice within a range of 10kms
The real fans will have to deal with one problem: make a choice out of the huge offer: fishing, water skiing, , jetskiing, karting, horseriding, tennis, golf, , etc. La Cote Sauvage is renowned for its great surf, and you can enrol in one of the many surf clubs if you would like to try this sport or brush up on it.

What about the forest
The 10000 acres of forest, which comprise the Forest of La Coubre provide the stunning backdrop to Bonne Anse Chalets. Planted in the 19° century to stop the erosion of the sea this forest is quite unique in France and is undoubtedly the jewel of the region. It hides some buried villages from another time and blockhaus’, the last remnants of the Second World War. Set against a relief of dunes, airy, clear and penetrated by shafts of sunlight, it is pleasant to explore the forest at any time of the year, either walking, cycling, riding or by car.
