What to see

With the best sunshine record outside La Côte d'Azur (2600 hours per year), this part of south-west France has long been a popular holiday area for the French but there is an entire region and way of life to discover behind the dazzling coastline.

Who could come to La Palmyre without visiting its world famous zoo, and the very impressive aquarium in La Rochelle is only an hours drive away.

The Gironde estuary and les Pertuis have a fascinating maritime heritage to discover by boat: the oyster beds of Marennes Oleron, the Cordouan lighthouse, the well known Boyard Fort, Louvois Fort, the island of Aix.

The site is an ideal base for visiting the famous vineyards of Bordeaux.
